What Do Lazy Vegans Eat?

What Do Lazy Vegans Eat?

Vegans occasionally have an entire afternoon to enjoy the process of preparing a long and leisurely supper. However, there may be instances where you don’t feel like spending hours making meals in the kitchen. This is when a lazy vegan meal comes in handy.

There are tons of widespread misunderstandings about eating plant-based or vegan meals. One of those is that preparing a healthy meal takes too long and that frozen meals or dishes are the only options to go. While frozen vegan cuisine is delicious, relying on packaged vegan meals all of the time is unhealthy. There are a plethora of easy vegan dishes that can be prepared at home using basic materials. Kathy’s Vegan Kitchen is one great example of a vegan website full of delicious recipes and tips on cooking vegan meals. So on a busy day, a lazy vegan can prepare any of the five following foods.

1. Chickpea pasta with marinara and spinach

Chickpea spaghetti, along with the pre-made marinara sauce, is a must-have item in any vegan pantry. It would be best to use a sauce that has no added sugar and no added oil. However, not everyone keeps fresh or frozen spinach available to toss into the sauce and turn this into a complete dinner. But don’t worry if you don’t have any spinach on hand; you can substitute any other vegetable to finish the dish. Any vegetable will work with this dinner, including fresh peppers, frozen peas and carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower.

Ingredients

  • chickpea pasta (8 oz)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (prepared ahead of time)
  • Fresh 12-ounce spinach bag
  • 4 tablespoons vegan parmesan cheese

2. Tofu-based vegan fried rice

This vegan fried rice recipe uses pre-cooked brown rice, tofu, and a frozen mixed vegetable blend for a quick meal! This recipe can alternatively be made using a frozen stir-fry medley.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet brown rice (frozen)
  • 16 oz tofu (extra firm)
  • 2 cups mixed frozen vegetables of carrots, corn, grean beans, and peas.
  • 1 red onion, tiny (diced)
  • a quarter cup of soy sauce

3. Bean chili

This dish is simple to prepare and only takes a few minutes of your time. Only 5 major components are required, plus chili powder, salt, and pepper. It will only consume 20 minutes of your time to prepare and goes well with vegan cornmeal muffins or a small side salad.

Ingredients

  • 1 chopped yellow onion
  • 1 chopped organic green pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable stock additional 14 cups for the veggies to simmer
  • 14 oz. organic black beans (or other beans) in a can
  • 14 oz. fire-roasted tomatoes in a can
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • season with salt and pepper to taste

4. Black bean tacos

Tacos are a crowd-pleaser, and this recipe is as easy as they come. Reheat some corn tortillas and black beans, then top with store-bought salsa and fresh vegetables of your choice.

Ingredients

  • Corn tortillas (four to eight)
  • 15 oz. black bean can (drained and rinsed)
  • 2 tsp chile powder or taco seasoning (optional)
  • One and a half cups of corn (frozen), prepared salsa, and shredded lettuce.

5. Whole wheat pasta with garlic

This garlic whole wheat pasta is where it’s at when you want something delicious, home-cooked, quick, and easy! Serve with steamed broccoli for an extra serving of vegetables! This dish appeals to me since it contains whole wheat pasta, which is high in fiber.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti (whole wheat)
  • 1/2 CUP VEGAN STOCK
  • 5 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
  • A quarter cup of basil or parsley (coarsely chopped)

There you have it! Five delicious dishes that you could try when you are not that enthusiastic about cooking a vegan dish. These lazy vegan recipes are perfectly balanced and still fit any vegan’s taste even though you can cook them quickly and efficiently.

6 Foods And Spices That Burn Fat And That Stimulate Weight Loss

6 Foods And Spices That Burn Fat And That Stimulate Weight Loss

There are many types of food that are forbidden if you’re on a diet. You may have to give up junk food, or high sugar snacks. You may have to eat less meat. But there are some foods that you can eat which will help your body burn more fat. But, which ones? And how can you use them to lose weight? These foods and spices all have a distinct effect on your metabolism, giving your body the ability to burn more calories every day. And best of all, none of these fat-burning foods require you to do any extra work. Here are some of the best foods and spices that will help you burn fat.

healthy plate of food

1) Salmon

The first food is salmon. Not only does salmon taste great and provide us with important omega-3 fatty acids, but it also contains a chemical called Niacin (also known as Vitamin B3). This chemical has been proven to speed up our bodies’ ability to burn fat by as much as 70%. It does this through a process that is actually fairly complex and includes the production of what are called eicosanoids that increase blood flow to our muscles. As well as increasing our muscles’ ability to receive nutrients and excrete waste products, this increased blood flow causes an anabolic (muscle building) response within the body. This means that not only can you burn fat more effectively, but by using salmon as a part of your diet you can build muscle more effectively.

2) Green Tea

Green tea is well known for its ability to reduce stress and anxiety, but it also provides us with something even more useful. Green tea is full of a chemical that actually reduces our appetite, increases our metabolism, and thus burns fat. The chemical can increase metabolic rate by as much as 20 percent. In addition to this, it is a great source of antioxidants which have been shown to enhance immunity also. If you were ever wondering what foods to eat before bed for fat loss, a few crackers and a cup of green tea might be your best bet for a slimmer body. Green tea also has a calming effect so it will help you fall asleep faster.

3) Hot Peppers

If you like spicy food, then you’re in luck. Spicy food has been shown to reduce our appetite and make us eat less. This is probably due to the fact that spicy foods cause our bodies to burn more energy as a means of cooling down our mouths after eating something hot. Although it doesn’t require much of an explanation, you can easily see how this would help your weight loss efforts. In addition to making food taste better, hot peppers such as cayenne can help you lose weight.

4) Apples

As if eating apples wasn’t good enough, they also reduce our appetite and assist in fat loss. It has been shown that eating apples actually changes the way our bodies process sugar, making us much less likely to store it as fat. This is because of the high fiber content in apples. Apple fibers actually slow down the digestive process, making our stomachs feel full longer. This is great because it doesn’t only prevent us from snacking on junk food or sweets, it also prevents us from overeating at meals.

5) Chia Seeds

If you’re looking for a healthy way to add more fat into your diet, chia seeds are the answer. In addition to being the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids in nature, they also contain a chemical that has been proven to actually boost our metabolism and increase fat loss. This also reduces cortisol levels in the body and helps improve blood sugar control.

6) Cinnamon

Both cinnamon and cinnamon extract has been proven to reduce our bodies’ fat stores and assist in weight loss. It does this by increasing metabolism and decreasing appetite, by lowering insulin levels. It is also packed with antioxidants that help improve immunity and protect against free radicals that can cause disease, including cardiovascular disease.

This article provided you information on 6 foods that are a good choice when choosing food that will help in your weight loss journey. There are many other foods and spices that can easily be added to your diet in order to stimulate weight loss such as turmeric (curcumin), green tea extract, garlic, ginger root, apple cider vinegar, and many others. Foods and spices like this can be added without having to skip out on the foods you love, they are delicious, and healthy for you. They also provide numerous benefits including improved immunity which can reduce the risk of getting sick.

Expert Tips for Getting Started With Keto Diet

Expert Tips for Getting Started With Keto Diet

knife and fork keto

A keto diet, also known as the ketogenic diet, consists of high-fat foods and very few carbs. It’s not really a diet but rather an eating pattern, meaning it doesn’t have specific start dates or end dates. People typically follow this plan to lose weight or manage symptoms of certain conditions like type 2 diabetes, epilepsy, and even acne. If you want to get started on the Keto diet, here are some expert tips that will help.

Carb Up For A Few Days

If you are new to the keto diet or have been following it for some time, it’s important that you don’t jump right into your usual carb limit of 20 grams per day on the first day you start keto. In your first week of starting out on this way of eating, aim to eat about 50-60% carbs from vegetables for three days until you can get into ketosis effectively. This will help reduce any adverse effects associated with the adaptation process and allow your body to begin burning fat as its preferred source of fuel.

Meal Prep Is Essential

A great way to set yourself up for success on the keto diet is by planning ahead of time so there are no contingencies that interfere with your new lifestyle plan. Preparing nutritious keto meals like the perfect keto smoothie, keto pancakes, or even a simple keto salad in advance can be helpful for busy days where you have a tough time finding the time to cook. It also helps ensure that your ketogenic diet plan contains all the required nutrients, including healthy fats and fiber from vegetables.

Not All Fats Are Good For You

When transitioning to the ketogenic diet, one pitfall that people often make is increasing intake of saturated fat, which can increase your cholesterol levels. While it’s true that you need to limit your intake of unhealthy trans fats, you don’t have to eliminate all sources of saturated fat if you are following a well-formulated ketogenic diet.

Instead, balance healthy fats by opting for low-carb plant-based oils like coconut oil and olive oil as well as raw nuts and seeds over crispy treats or dairy products with added butter.

Use Intermittent Fasting If Needed

The ketogenic diet has many positive effects on the body, including weight loss, blood sugar stabilization, increased energy, and improved cognitive function. However, some people will find it more difficult to adhere to this way of eating especially in the early stages after transitioning from a higher carb intake. To make it easy for yourself, only eat within an eight-hour window each day or consider utilizing intermittent fasting until your body adjusts to burning fat as its primary fuel source.

Consider Making A Social Media Account

If you don’t have one already, consider creating a social media account specifically dedicated to your weight loss journey as this is how many people now track their progress online. Creating an account with an online weight loss community like Reddit’s r/loseit or Instagram can be a great way to share tips and even recipes so you have a support network when going keto.

Find The Right Supplements For You

Supplements are a great way of boosting your results if needed, but not necessary for everyone who is following a well-formulated ketogenic diet. Some supplements that individuals may benefit from on this type of eating plan include exogenous ketones to help reduce appetite between meals, MCT oil powder to boost energy levels, electrolytes to stave off fatigue, and mineral drops that add essential minerals into foods that don’t naturally contain them.

Give Yourself Enough Time To Switch Fuels

When transitioning from a high-carb diet to the keto diet, many people notice changes in their energy levels and how they feel overall. This is due to the fact that glucose is your brain’s preferred fuel source, so when there isn’t enough in the blood, your body has to switch gears.

If you are experiencing these symptoms when switching over to keto, don’t worry! It takes time for your body to adapt and begin converting fat into fuel in the form of ketones.

keto meal

In the beginning, it can take weeks or even months for your body to adjust to burning fat instead of glucose. However, once you’ve successfully made this change, a ketogenic diet has been shown in scientific studies to improve many different markers of metabolic health. So don’t get discouraged if things seem a little bit harder in the beginning – once your body is efficiently converting from carbs into ketones, you’ll begin feeling great!

How to Plan a Romantic Meal for Date Night

How to Plan a Romantic Meal for Date Night

Date nights should always be special, whether it’s that monthly Saturday night meal with your long-married partner, or the first date with someone you had been meaning to ask out for months. While eating should not be the main objective in a date, the food and drinks served do play a big role in creating a fulfilling experience. Pleasant experiences lead to positive outcomes and good impressions. With that point in focus, here are a few effective tips to help plan a romantic meal for your next date night.

Cook for Him/Her

There is just something very romantic about a partner putting in the extra effort to cook that special meal for date night. If you are an excellent cook who can prepare a strip steak with potatoes, cheese and spinach in no time, then this is probably nothing new for you or your partner. For the rest of us though, even the thought of cooking meatballs in tomatoes is an intimidating idea, especially when we are trying to impress someone. Fortunately, we live in an age of technology and there are ways around poor culinary skills too.

We are not suggesting that you order food from the restaurant, because that just does not have the same romantic effect as a homecooked meal that you prepared on your own. Instead, order precut, prechopped, pre-portioned, and pre-marinated grill/oven ready dishes, complete with cooking instructions. You will still be the one cooking those dishes at home, but it’s a quicker way to cook exquisite meals for two, with almost zero chance of them tasting anything short of remarkable. If you want to check out meal deliveries reviews like Fresh and Easy, you can read more about it and other delivery services on Top10.com.

Book Early at a Special Place

The term “special” means different things to different couples, but if we were to take the traditional route for planning a special date night dinner, then a romantic candlelight meal at an exotic restaurant seldom fails. However, you will need to book early for obvious reasons, and discuss your options with the manager. From getting personal musicians and rare wines, to delivering surprise gifts for a special occasion, all are quite doable.

Keep in mind that these special dates should be reserved only for special occasions. For most of us, wine and dine plans at top-of-the-line restaurants are far too expensive for them be affordable frequently. Even for people who can afford it, going to expensive, prebooked places too often ruins the romantic effect that it is supposed to have on the person that you are trying to impress.

Go On a Short Hiking and Camping Trip

It can be quite romantic and impressive to take your partner out for a summer’s day short hike and camping dinner, provided that they too are fond of nature dates of course. Also, you should only hike and camp in areas which you are well acquainted with. As far as the dinner itself is concerned, sitting in front of a campfire, roasting marshmallows, listening to the sounds of nature, talking with each other, and stargazing are the main attractions here. If you choose a good location, the entire experience can be one to remember.

Keep in mind that campfires can get out of hand, and they are not allowed in all parts. Bring cooked food in tinfoil and after you are done, repack the scraps to avoid wild animals from venturing near the campsite. Marshmallows, rice and red beans, pasta, egg and chicken salad, hotdogs, braised chicken breasts, fried chicken, and burgers are all good options for campfire meals.

romantic dinner over fire

Go On a Street Food Eating Spree

This meal plan is essentially all about eating and exploring the urban street cuisines. Not every place in the United States has the best street food of course, but even taking a small trip to the nearest town or city that has a popular street food culture can turn out to be an excellent date with fantastic meals. From falafels, hot dogs and pretzels, to gyros, churros and burritos; you would be surprised how much variety exists in and around the urban streets.

Before you venture out to have street food together, keep in mind that some of the Central/South American and Indian dishes can be extremely spicy. Unless you have the stomach for it, stick to the exploring the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes.

Romance is a subjective term, so make any plan for the date night that would appeal to you and your partner. However, do focus more on their likes and dislikes, since you are the one planning the date. Never plan anything that you know your partner won’t be comfortable with, but if it’s your first date, play it safe and take the traditional route of cooking at home or eating at a romantic restaurant.

A Guide To Growing Plants Indoors To Spruce Up Your Living Space

A Guide To Growing Plants Indoors To Spruce Up Your Living Space

Plantlife is a beautiful thing, and it’s something that many people enjoy. Most of us have a green thumb – we may not be able to grow anything outside in the wintertime, but inside with artificial lighting and proper care, we can create an amazing environment for plants. This blog post will teach you how to take your indoor space from drab to fab by incorporating some lovely greenery!

several indoor plants

What Kind Of Plants You’re Interested In Growing

Indoor plants can help spruce up your living space and give you a nice relaxing area to relax in.

Plants provide oxygen for us, we provide them with nutrients they need to grow! A few examples of common indoor houseplants are Pothos, Spider plant, Aloe vera, however, unusual house plants can make a great addition to your living space. If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to growing these friendly little buddies I would recommend starting off small or just doing what I did and getting one that’s low maintenance such as the spider plant which only needs indirect sunlight and occasional watering every once in a while.

Find A Good Pot For Your Plant

The best pots for growing plants are typically terracotta or plastic ones. Make sure that you get a pot that’s big enough to fit the plant in, but small enough so it doesn’t take up too much room on your window sill! If needed, re-pot your plants if they become root-bound (meaning their roots will be visible around the outside of the soil) or if their leaves droop down and look sad when watered.

Make sure the drainage holes in the bottom of the plant’s pot have been covered with pebbles so that it doesn’t get flooded when watering and add some nice decorative rocks around the outside of your container that looks dull from all that black plastic.

Make Sure Your Soil Is Moist

Some plants, such as the Aloe vera and cactus do not require a lot of water to keep them alive. Others, however, need a little bit more TLC to survive in your living space! Make sure you read up on what type of plant life you have so that you know how often it needs watering – obviously don’t want to drown it or leave it sitting there dry for too long. A helpful tip is when picking out soil for your plants make sure they are labeled with an “organic” symbol which means they will hold moisture well enough without drowning your new friend (the Eiffel Tower pictured above).

If all else fails just remember this important rule: every time you water the plant adds another marble size amount of dirt. Another helpful tip is to water your plants in the morning or evening when it’s not too hot outside! Otherwise, if you’re inside with no air conditioning and your plant gets watered while you are out at work all day they could end up getting burnt from its own sun rays shining on it throughout the afternoon!

Green living space is something that all homes should strive for. Indoor plants are a great way to make your home feel more like you and help reduce stress levels, which can only be good! Now go ahead and find yourself some awesome new indoor plants – they’re well worth having around!
